Map of the Media Village and Information for the Media

Media Village
The Media  Village has been set up in the sports area of the Guardia di Finanza Inspectors' School in Coppito on an area of over 24,000 square metres, of which fully 9,000 are built up.  There are three press areas inside the Media Village, one of which is set aside for news agencies, an area specially equipped for broadcast media (IBC – International Broadcasting Centre), an area providing assistance to photographers and the stand-up area, along with the catering area, a first-aid centre and a fitness area.
The Media Village will open at 9.30 a.m. on 7 July 2009 and remain open 24 hours a day until the end of the activities connected with the Summit.  The whole of the Media Village area has Wi-Fi coverage, which can be accessed using the password printed on the press badge.  Staff will be on hand to supply all necessary information on the facilities provided and assistance in the event of any technical problems.
Accredited media representatives will be able to access the Media Village using an ongoing 24-hour shuttle service leaving from the L'Aquilone shopping mall interchange area (L'Aquila Ovest exit from the S.S.17 national highway in the direction of Rieti), and from the Villaggio Mediterraneo in Chieti (Via Gorizia).

Host Broadcaster
The RAI (Italian Radio and Television) is the G8 Summit's Host Broadcaster. It will provide audio and video coverage of all the major events apart from bilateral meetings.  The signal will be broadcast by the Host Broadcaster to the International Broadcasting Centre (IBC).  All of the Summit's public events can be followed live on the monitors located inside the Media Village.  Also the Summit agenda, information on the official programme and appointments for the press will be broadcast in real time over the same closed-circuit television system.

Host Photographer
All of the official photographs at the Summit will be taken by Ansa Photo in its capacity as Host Photo Agency, and they will be made available to accredited journalists in the shortest possible time in the allocated area on the G8 Summit's official website at www.g8italia2009.it .

Media pool and news conferences
There are 10 news conference rooms in the vicinity of the Media Village, inside the Summit area.  Delegations will be able to book nine of these (with a capacity ranging from 90 to 150 places) during the Summit for briefings and meetings with the press.
A system of media pools, equipped with a special pool card to add to the press badge, will be organized for all the events open to the press and for filming and photography; this will be in addition to the audio and video coverage provided by Host Broadcaster RAI.  The size of the various pools will be decided by the G8 Press Office on the basis of the space available.
For security purposes, the pools must be extremely punctual and keep strictly to the times given in the programme shown on the screens located inside the Media Village.  All pool members must wear both their pool card and their press badge on a part of their clothing where they can both be seen, from the moment they reach the initial rendez-vous at the Pool Meeting Point until their return to the Media Village.
