G8 Summit 2009: Single Press Centre for Journalists in L'Aquila

18/06/2009

All journalists accredited to the G8 Summit will now be able to track the event from a single press centre which is to be set up in the sports area of the Guardia di Finanza School in Coppito, where the meetings of the Heads of State and Government Leaders are due to be held.  This is the first time that the world's leaders and the press are to be housed under the same roof at an international summit of the G8's importance.

The press centre in Coppito was originally supposed to host only photographers and television, radio and news agency crews, while a press centre was planned inside the Villaggio Mediterraneo in Chieti (where journalists from the printed press will have accommodation) for the printed press.

A decision has now been taken, however, to organize a single press centre in response to a request lodged by the embassies of the countries involved in the July Summit.
