The Tender to Nave Italia Project
The "Fondazione Tender to Nave Italia ONLUS", a nonprofit organization set up by Italian Navy and the Italian Yacht Club, has launched an initiative known as Kids' G8 -- an international project designed to foster the integration and inclusion of teenagers in society.
A team comprising youngsters from the 14 countries involved in the G8 2009 Summit along with seven differently abled young people are to sail together on the largest brig in the world, the "Nave Italia". While on board, they will all be taking part in a debate on G8 issues as part of a pedagogical project designed to enhance, include and welcome difference. The steered debate on G8 issues will lead to the drafting of a document for submission to the First Ladies, who will be invited to board the ship. The kids will also produce a logbook which can be accessed in blog format via the following website: www.tendertonaveitalia.com.
The sailing ship is due to set sail on 30 June and to dock in Civitavecchia on 7 July. In that city the G8 youngsters will be meeting up with a delegation of children and teenagers from the areas hit by the earthquake which shook the Abruzzo region in April this year.
This will enable to the G8 youngsters to meet with teenagers from all over the world and to share the results of this extremely positive educational experience with them.
